[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign. Hello, and welcome to series seven of the Life of Letters. I'm Heidi, podcast producer. [00:00:10] Speaker B: And I'm Laura, podcast host. [00:00:12] Speaker A: And welcome, welcome, welcome. So this is series seven and it is launching on the 27th of October, and that is very, very close to Halloween, which is very, very fitting as it's all about mystery and magic this season. So there are some really, really lovely surprises in the series coming and they're all very exciting and very intriguing. So, Laura, can you tell us some more about it all and give us a peek behind a curtain? [00:00:41] Speaker B: Absolutely. Come this way. I am so excited to be sharing this series and it's really nice to have this theme of magic and mystery and exploring some of the stories that I feel like we don't ever really quite get to hear about. And one of which is talking to the most amazing calligrapher from New Zealand around the Lord of the Rings, his work in film and tv, and what it takes to create all these incredible props and being able to create these incredible scripts for quite a large number of items, let's say. So wonderful getting to speak to him. We visit Japan and explore the spiritual magic of Shoto. We unlock the secrets of the Magic Circle and in particular the sort of synergies of crafting letters and conjuring, which I didn't realize there were quite so many. The lost script of ancient Irish Om, which, if you haven't heard of it, is this beautiful ancient script which carves lines on stone. But it's a beautiful conversation. And, yeah, we dive into the history books, we gather up spy codes and look at histories of secret letters. How the magic of stationery hit the high street and survived a pandemic. Incredible stuff. We also visit Norway and find out a little bit about this mysterious hidden library that is being created for the future. So there's so much packed into this and it's a real kind of global experience, which is just what magic and mystery should be about. So, yeah, really thrilled to be sharing these conversations with, with everyone. [00:02:30] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. This is a wild ride, this series. There's some really kind of big cultural, big hitters in there, won't give anything away. But yeah, some very exciting cultural stuff, some incredible community stories as always, and yeah, quite a hefty dose of magic throughout. So please stay tuned for all of those. They're all incredible, as always. You know, these podcasts are kind of like children and you're not really allowed to have your favourites, but secretly I have my favorites. But I do have a feeling that in series seven, there Might be some new favourites coming down the line, which I'm really, really excited about. [00:03:09] Speaker B: Oh, for sure. Oh, for sure. Just when you thought you had a favorite, we're gonna pull a magic card. [00:03:16] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. One or two. Maybe One or two. We'll see. We'll see how it pans out. But I'm pretty excited. [00:03:22] Speaker B: Yeah. We'd love to hear if anybody else has had a favorite out of the last six series. And let's see if anything new comes out in series seven as well. [00:03:34] Speaker A: Also, series seven for us marks the end of year two for the podcast, which is also incredible. Laura and I still can't, can't quite believe that we're here and we still have so many listeners and, you know, it's continuing to grow and people still want to come on and talk to us about all of their wonderful stories. So we just can't thank you enough for being here with us. It's. It's such a wonderful ride. [00:03:59] Speaker B: It's true. The stories haven't run out, the conversations are not ending here. We absolutely love being here. And, yeah, huge thank you to everybody listening. I just want to say as well, that I absolutely love getting messages on Instagram and emails from people saying how much they've enjoyed a particular episode and how it's made them feel even either either inspired or has reignited something around a passion of theirs that they'd totally forgotten about. So it's really lovely hearing from people as well. So do stay in touch with us. We kick things off on the 27th of October, so that's the first episode releasing then, and we're going to be taking you all the way through to the end of 2026. So stay tuned and join us for another Life of Letters. Thanks for listening. Don't forget to subscribe, leave a review or share it with a fellow letter lover.
